Mini Bikes For Sale

Back in the 1960’s drag race car teams needed to find a way to quickly get around on the racing infield and the pit area. Someone borrowed an idea from Japan to build a miniature motorcycle for this task. These mini bikes were quick, highly maneuverable and easily stored making them perfect for the job. Before long the pit crews were taking their mini bikes home for their kids to drive around the neighborhood. A fad was born and many people began building these small bikes out of spare parts in their garage.

In the beginning the builders would have to create their own frames from tubular steel, borrow the engine from their go kart and steal the wheels off of their lawn mowers. Companies soon took notice of the trend and started providing mini bike parts and completed cycles. Companies like Arctic-Cat and Taco added mini-bikes to their expanding product line. These first mini bikes for sale were expensive, with price tags sometimes reaching $4,000.

Today mini bikes are cheap with some models selling for as little as $200. Imports are soaring and demand is high. The popularity is easy to understand: the adrenalin is pumping when you are riding a bike 45 mph 18 inches off the ground. But despite a low cost of entry and lax laws mini bikes are not toys.
